You may be so busy being nice to other people that you could forget to be nice to the most important person: you!
I’m not saying to be selfish all the time, but every now and then you need to remember to put yourself first! Here are five easy ways to be nice to yourself.
1. Buy the shoes.
Or the camera. Or the headphones. Or the pack of gum. What I’m saying is, it doesn’t matter what it is exactly, but sometimes you need to get something for yourself just because! Treat yo’self!
2. Take time to do the things you love.
In the famous words of Ferris Bueller, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” Work, kids, volunteering, cooking, chores. There’s a lot to get done in a day and you only have so much time! Just make sure you put some time aside to do the things you love, whether it’s reading, hiking, or watching foreign films.
3. Eat your veggies!
I’m not trying to “mom” you right now, but one of the most important ways to be nice to yourself is to be nice to your body! This includes making sure you’re eating fruits and veggies and getting all essential vitamins and nutrients.
4. Get moving!
This goes right along with eating well. You don’t have to run a marathon or anything but try to move every day! Even if it’s just a walk around the block at night, try to get that blood pumping!
5. Pamper yourself.
Massage, mani-pedi, a bath… Take some you time and enjoy your well-deserved R&R time!
