5 Ways to Choose To Be Nice This Spring

More daylight and flowers blooming. Allergies and rain clouds. Baseball games and Girl Scout cookies. These are all telltale signs that spring has finally arrived! This year, let’s make choosing to be nice a staple of the spring season to join these others. Need some suggestions?

Here are 5 easy ways to Choose To Be Nice this spring.

1. Help an elderly neighbor with their garden.

Gardening season is one of my personal favorite parts of spring! From colorful flowers to fresh tomatoes, I love it all. This season, see if any of your elderly neighbors need help with their gardening. Pulling weeds can be a lot of work, and I bet they would really appreciate the help!

2. Donate your unused winter clothes.

Do you have things in your closet that you never pulled out this past winter? A sweater that you might have outgrown? Or a jacket that fell out of your rotation due to a newer addition? Although the cold weather is (thankfully) done for the season, people are always in need of winter clothes for next year. Think about going through your closet and pulling out those pieces and bringing them to a local church, synagogue or homeless shelter.

3. Visit a kid’s lemonade stand.

Is it too soon for lemonade stands? Never! May is prime time for those little stands to pop up all over the place. Stop by one this spring and purchase a lemonade. You’ll make the kid’s day.

4. Help a neighbor with yard work.

Is your neighbor sick? Busy with kids? If you’re out mowing your lawn and you notice your neighbor’s yard could use some love, take the extra 30-40 minutes to mow their lawn. They definitely won’t be expecting it, but you can guarantee it will make them feel the neighborly love!

5. Cheer on kids at little league.

Play ball! Little League gets into full swing in the springtime. This year, visit your local park and cheer on the kids as they play. Don’t know anyone who is in Little League? That’s okay! Even if you can’t cheer for a relative or friend, no kid will say no to an extra cheerleader.
