It’s so exciting when students return to school after the summer break and catch up with friends, meet new teachers and settle into the classroom. There is an energy of renewed enthusiasm as students and teachers adjust to the schedule and get set for the coming year. For students across the country, those first days brought an opportunity to make the promise that will lead to substantial changes in the way they respond to others around them and help to create a lasting culture of kindness in their schools, communities, and homes.
There are so many fun things happening in our schools this year, we just had to share. We can’t get enough. Across the country, banners are being signed, assemblies are building enthusiasm and students are coming up with ways to show what it means to treat others with kindness and respect. We look forward to highlighting the great things students are doing all year long. One of the ways we will do this is through a “Featured School” column on the blog. If you would like your school to be featured, please send an email to getnice@choosetobenice.com. It’s a great way to let the world know about the wonderful things your students are doing.
We always welcome emails with updates and photos, and we’re watching on social media too. These posts matter because they inspire and motivate others to make a difference where they are. So keep them coming!

Memorial staff asked members from our schools and community to talk about the 9 values in the Choose To Be Nice program to help introduce our students to the program and values we will be discussing throughout the year!
